The charming Casa La Valle is a small but perfectly formed rustic Bed and Breakfast on the Tiber Valley. When staying here you can expect a truly natural experience, the mattresses are all made from lamb's wool, breakfast includes milk, home-made marmalades, dried fruits and bread and the house itself is a beautiful stone structure. What sets Casa La Valle apart is the owner, Renza's love of weaving, the sitting room is filled with naturally dyed wools, looms and garments in various stages of completion. You can accompany Renza on her collection and study of the flowers, leaves, barks, roots and berries that form the basis of the dyes. You can learn the centuries-old way of colouring and weaving yarns and take home a unique souvenir of your stay.
Renza says, "My roots stand firmly in the folk tradition of Tiber High Valley weaving. Year on year I have improved my deftness of weaving and knowledge of the techniques, being once student and once teacher. Today I continue to be attracted by the magic revelations of weaving."
Casa La Valle also offers courses in tagliatella making, so after your day of weaving and collecting plants, you can enjoy the scenery with a home-made plate of authentic pasta!
