May's Green Heart Italy Trophy!
"We didn’t know much about Umbria before our trip with Green Heart Italy, despite a third of us coming from Italy. The region had so much to offer, not least the spectacular golf courses, which we never expected to find here. Perugia is a technically challenging course and a real joy to play. Antognolla’s strength, whilst also being an excellent round of golf, lies in its sheer beauty. The restaurant, Il Caldaro, at Antognolla (which we were lucky enough to have opened especially for our party) was excellent, delicious food, great wine and fantastic service.
Our Green Heart Italy host (who was driver, guide and tour operator rolled into one) could not have done more for us, even commissioning a specially made ‘Green Heart Italy Trophy’ to present to the winner of our little week-long tournament. Made in Gualdo Tadino, the trophy is a one of a kind, traditional ceramic vase which is now proudly displayed in Mario and Karen’s home as Mario was the winner…for this year at least!
The ladies were also well looked after with trips to the local towns and markets spending hours browsing the fascinating boutiques and stalls around the area. We spent some time together too (!) visiting a local cantina where local wine is made and we tasted some of the products of the vineyard. On the final night we were treated to a fantastic barbeque at the hotel, again all part of the Green Heart Italy service, which was a great end to our week.
We were really happy with our visit to the ‘green heart of Italy’ and I’m sure we will be back – and not just to win the trophy!"
